Mission
Our mission is to empower our members to deliver high-impact advanced manufacturing solutions with the expertise, technologies, and strategic partnerships needed to shape the future.
Our Story
The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM — pronounced “See-KAM”) is a Public-Private Partnership founded in 2010 by industry partners, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and significant support from the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Prince George County. CCAM is an independent, industry-led, Virginia-based 501(c)(3) organization driving the development and adoption of cutting-edge manufacturing solutions. CCAM brings together industry, academia, and government to solve real-world manufacturing challenges through collaboration, innovation, and applied research.
Located in Prince George County, Virginia, CCAM operates as a nonprofit, membership-based applied research center serving as a hub for advancing manufacturing capabilities. Members maintain ownership and control of their intellectual property, gaining a competitive advantage through accelerated exploration, validation, and deployment of advanced manufacturing technologies.
Recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Virginia Innovation Partnership Authority (VIPA) and a Top Employer for Interns by the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (V-TOP), CCAM also serves as the In-Region Coordinating Entity for GO TEC® in GO Virginia Region 4, hosting a regional training lab to help build Virginia’s future manufacturing workforce.
Through its collaborative research model, CCAM unites a world-class team of scientists, engineers, and technologists from leading research universities and global companies. Together, they develop, test, and deploy next-generation technologies that strengthen manufacturing competitiveness and ensure workforce readiness.
By leveraging manufacturing testbeds, digital integration, and in-situ monitoring, CCAM accelerates technology readiness, de-risks adoption, and builds interoperable systems that advance U.S. manufacturing capabilities. For Virginia and beyond, CCAM serves as an engine for innovation and economic growth—transforming industry challenges into deployable solutions and building the skilled workforce to sustain them.
