Nguyen Tran, a standout intern at CCAM and recent graduate of VCU with a B.S. in Computer Engineering, showcased his knowledge and talent during his internship. His role as a key contributor to a cooperative processing project was pivotal, where he spearheaded the development of cutting-edge vision algorithms tailored for Zed2 cameras, covering object detection, tracking, and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) capabilities. Fluent in both C++ and Python, Nguyen ensured efficient solutions for complex tasks.
Nguyen also actively participated in machine learning tasks, including annotation, training, and testing of laser powder bed layer images, demonstrating his versatility. His creative problem-solving skills were evident when he developed a Python-based Blender plugin for CAD modeling efforts, underscoring his interdisciplinary capabilities.
Beyond his technical skills, Nguyen’s punctuality, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn made him a pleasure to work with and mentor. His skills in computer vision, programming languages (Python, C, C++), software tools (ROS2, OpenGL, Blender, Peregrine), robotics, and software development (Windows, Linux, embedded systems) collectively define him as a rising star in the field of computer engineering, poised to make significant contributions in industry.
