Our team of CCAM volunteers has been working with the Science Museum of Virginia to design, build, and install an interactive exhibit in a new maker space called “The Forge.”
“The Forge” is part maker space, part interactive exploration, part community innovation sandbox. Covering more than 7,000 square feet, this innovative project leverages the institution’s exemplary community partnerships, multifaceted events, and nimble science communications channels to extend their brand and mission well beyond traditional exhibits and programs.
CCAM researchers are programing program a KUKA KR5 arc Robot to draw/paint recognizable artwork on the outdoor window of the Forge exhibit, making the robot and artwork visible from their large atrium, as guests enter the museum. The project is designed to engaged families with the capabilities of robotics. CCAM and SMV are actively committed to enriching the lives of the Commonwealth of Virginia through science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
